About Us

The Farmhouse Bakery and Deli was started in 2023 as an experiment, in a shed, between the Yoder and Snader families in Soldotna, Alaska. Both families came from areas in the lower 48 (Pennsylvania, Kentucky) surrounded by Amish and Mennonite communities, which are famous for their good cooking and quality food. Later, in 2024, the Martin family from New York joined the mix.

The goal was simple: To bring a bakery and deli to Soldotna, Alaska, that has the good taste and food heritage of Amish and Mennonite culture. An added goal was to provide jobs for our children (and others) in an environment where they could flourish, and use skills learned at home from years of baking and food preparation.

What does this mean for you? It means fresh, delicious baked goods, homemade deli sandwiches, and other hand crafted food. Our baked goods are made from scratch, right here in Soldotna, Alaska. Jams, jellies, and other such goodies are also staples that we want to, literally, “bring to the table.”

Our goal is to keep growing, one step at a time. We outgrew the shed quickly, now we are at our new location on the Spur Highway. Already we are seeing that this building will probably needed to be expanded soon. With two acres at our disposal, we have room for future options.

Come enjoy a sandwich and some fresh baked goods, and see what we are all about!

Our first location, just south of Soldonta:

Jerry Martin works on the Farmhouse sign. Did you know the letters are 3D printed? They were printed on a Prusa XL, and also on a Bambu Labs X1.

Taking down the old sign announcing that we were opening a bakery (we made 2024 by the skin of our teeth!):

Emanuel Yoder, the manager (and founder), works on getting things ready for opening day.
